John Charles Marston Sr., a retired Baton Rouge police officer, died at his home in Baton Rouge on Monday, June 5, 2006, at age 71. He was a native of Oklahoma and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. He is survived by a son, John C. Marston Jr., Maurepas; a brother, Floyd Lee Marston Jr., Baton Rouge; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Shirley and Charles Gates, Katy, Texas, Rosella and Lester Newton, Henderson, Ky., Elaine Marston, Baton Rouge, and Eddie M. Hodges, Kentwood; a neighbor and loving caregiver, Jeannette McKenzie; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Sr. and Claire Marston; a sister and two brothers-in-law, Mary and Wallace Smith, and Luther Hodges. A memorial service will be held in late June.
