Born in Darbun, MS, Mrs. Martell was a longtime resident of Topeka, KS before moving to New Jersey. While she was a resident of Topeka, she had worked as a Day Care Mother and for the Kansas Legislature. During World War II, she had worked in an airplane plant in Mobile, AL, and met her husband Julius after the war. Upon her husband's retirement, Willie Mae and Julius enjoyed traveling between Melbourne, FL and Estes Park, CO. Throughout their married life, she enjoyed listening to Julius play his trombone in many musical settings. She was a member of the Boston Terrier Club and spent time raising and showing Boston Terriers. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, her Bridge Club in Topeka and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Predeceased by her parents, Willie J. and Addie Conerly Lee, and her brother, O¹Ferrel E. Lee, she is survived by her husband of 63 years, Julius N. Martell; her daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl M. and John W. Reece of Cranbury; her son and daughter-in-law, Randy Lee and Judith Martell of Annapolis, MD; her grandchildren, Jonathan and Jordan Reece; her sister-in-law, Pansy Lee Kyzar of Columbia, MS; her nephews, Sammy Lee and his wife Susan, Bobby Lee and his wife Gwen and her niece, Carolyn Pugh and her husband Buddy, all from Ponchatoula, LA. A Memorial Service will be held 11am Wednesday at the A. S. Cole Funeral Home, 22 North Main St., Cranbury, NJ with a gathering to be held 30 minutes prior to the service.
