He was a devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He was born March 27, 1929, in Kentwood. He left this world on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, surrounded by his loving family at his residence. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Baton Rouge and became a car salesman for Peterson Chevrolet. He was Top Salesman of the Year for five consecutive years. He then went on to establish Martin Realty, whose motto was "This Bird Sales." He sold residential and commercial real estate until he retired. Survived by his wife, Carol Shingleur Martin; four daughters and their spouses, eight grandchildren, two brothers and a sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
