Alfred O. Marx, 79, was born Jan. 17, 1931, in McComb, Miss., and went to join the Lord on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010. He was a lifelong member of Natalbany Baptist Church, Natalbany, and an automotive parts specialist at Hammond Motors and later Gateway Motors, Ponchatoula. Alfred served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 in South Korea and was awarded the Bronze Star. Alfred was a loving husband to Dorothy Saunders Marx for 35 years. Alfred is survived by paternal aunt, Frances V. Beyl; five sisters and a brother-in-law, Pauline Beyl, Louise B. Davis, Elaine B. and George Kennedy, Norma B. Whittington and Roxie Beyl; two brothers and sisters-in- law, Joseph G. Jr. and Rose S. Beyl, and John M. and Phyllis C. Beyl. Alfred is also survived by nephews and nieces, Kevin J. and Carolyn J. Beyl, Timothy J. Beyl, Sharon and Vincent Bravata, Wayne M. and Laurie Flynt, Bart A. Kennedy, Darrall and Janet F. Davis, Shondra and Terry Broussard, David and Shelly Jenks, Michael and Shelley Whittington and Vernon Patterson; and many great-nephews and great-nieces. Alfred was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 1998; mother, Elizabeth O. Marx Beyl, and father, Joseph G. Beyl Sr.; and nieces, Joy F. Patterson and Donna Gill Flynt. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until chapel service at 11 a.m., officiated by Dr. Rodney Taylor, of Natalbany Baptist Church. Interment in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Hammond. Pallbearers will be Wayne M. Flynt, Darrall Davis, Bart A. Kennedy, Josh Patterson, Vernon Patterson and Kevin J. Beyl. Interment in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Hammond. Survived by husband, Alfred Marx, Ponchatoula; three sisters, Audrey Going and Violet Boone, both of LeCompte, and Mildred Holley, Ponchatoula; three brothers, Ray Saunders, Magnolia, Texas, J.C. Saunders, Channelview, Texas, and Kenneth Saunders, Alexandria; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Goldie and Juanita Blount Saunders; and a sister, Goldie Ann Saunders.
