However, he spent most of his life in Independence, Louisiana, having graduated from Independence High School. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Robertson for 13 years, yet was committed in love to her for most of his life. To this union there are three children: Tory Robertson, DeVokea Mason, and Dominique Harris. Both he and Evelyn committed many years of hard work and commitment to the community. Shaun was employed by Zimmer Echette, LLC as a Supervisor for 17 years as an Asbestos Remover. His wife, Evelyn, was employed by Wal-Mart for 25 years, initially as an Asst. Manager, and ultimately as a manger. Shaun often referred to Evelyn, his "Fish," as the Love of his life. He was a devoted husband and father. Shaun accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 7 years of age and re-dedicated his life to Christ in 2003. He was an active and faithful member of The Mount Kingdom Baptist Church in Tickfaw, Louisiana. He joined the Deacon Ministry at the Mount Kingdom Baptist Church in November of 1998. Devoted, Compassionate, and Faith-filled are all words that describe his commitment to ministry within the Church. He was a faithful member and had great love for the teachings of the Pastor, David Blount. He was someone who cared and exemplified GodŐs unconditional love, and Shaun Mason always showed an inner peace, a great love and respect for the Lord. He enjoyed Church and was at his best in Sunday Morning Worship, Bible School, and being a member of the Male Chorus. On Wednesday, October 17, 2007, the peace maker with a very humble spirit, departed this life. He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife Evelyn Mason, two sons Tory Robertson and DeVokea Mason and Daughter Dominique Harris. Sisters, Deidra Richardson, Regina Mason, Cheryl Mason and Kathy Kimble. Brothers, Darryl Mason and Jeffery Mason. He was preceded in death by his father James Mason. Shaun will be sadly missed by his family, his church family and the community-at-large. His spirit was one that seemed to fill the atmosphere with a sense of goodness and peace when he entered a room. He was always joking and laughing and loved to give nicknames out to all his family and friends. Shaun was a true football fan and loved the Dallas Cowboys (and was not a happy camper when they lost). He was known as the one who would keep his siblings in line when they were kids, and seemed to enjoy that role amongst his peers throughout his life's quest. As a result, he was often deemed by his family and friends as a peace maker with a very humble spirit. Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Greater Mount Kingdom Missionary Baptist Church, Tickfaw, followed by burial at Holly Gardens Cemetery in Hammond. Shaun Wendell Mason was the epitome of 1 Corinthians 13, the characteristics of love. So when tomorrow starts without me, donŐt think weŐre far apart, for every time of me, I'm right here in your heart. His Favorite Scripture was the Gospel according to JOHN, John 14:1 Chapter "Let not your heart be troubled...ye believe in God Believe also in me". Farewell to you, Peacemaker. Your spirit will forever live on in the memories. ************************************************************************* File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/tangipahoa/obits/obitssur/mason.txt
