She was born in Comanche County, Texas, August 23, 1920, and was a member of Westchurch Church of Christ. Her life exemplified her favorite scripture, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13) She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marion L. Mauldin in 1971 and Cary J. Lashley in 1999; her parents, John and Annie Gunter Mathews; sisters, Oneita Mclaughlin, Penny Adams, and Ruth Montgomery; brother, Allyn Mathews; and son-in-law, Jerry Conley. Left to cherish her memory are sons, Jim and wife Berni Mauldin, Hammond, LA, Larry and wife Karen Lashely, Alliance, OH; daughters, Marsha and husband Ken Brooks, Lakebay, WA, Jan Conley, Jessup, GA, and Marcia and husband Hugh Hodge, Darien, GA. She has 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank her church family, the caring staff at Heritage Manor of Hammond, the nurses and staff of North Oaks Hospital, especially the staff of Telemetry North. A special thanks to Drs. Bernstein, Zerrangue, and Raab. Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, Tuesday, April 13, from 6 p.m. til 8 p.m. with a service at 7:30 p.m. with her son-in-law, Hugh Hodge and John Bell officiating. Burial will be Friday, April 16, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Eastlawn Memorial Garden in Brownwood, TX, with her nephew, Tony Mauldin officiating.
