He was 85, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a native of Bush. Visitation will be at Seale Funeral Home, Livingston, on Monday, Aug. 8, from 2 p.m. until funeral service at 8 p.m. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Varga and Mary Elizabeth McDonald; sons, Howard Keith Mayfield and J. Wayne Mayfield; grandchildren, Charlotte Varga Duhé, Sherry Varga Barnes, Sheila Varga Green, David McDonald, Joel McDonald, John McDonald, William Mayfield, Joyce Mayfield, Amanda Mayfield, Megan Mayfield and Joshua Mayfield; and great- grandchildren, Hannah Paige McDonald, Kimber Paige Duhé, Tyler Ray McDonald, Ben Barnes, Olivia Barnes, Cali Green, Madison Avery McDonald and Timothy J. Abbott. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Reddish Mayfield; parents, John A. and Rincey Irene Mayfield; sons, James Edward and Hershel Edwin Mayfield; brother, John E. Carrollton, Miss. - James "Jim" Allison Mayfield Jr., 82, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, in Grenada, Miss., due to respiratory failure. He was a retired construction ironworker. He lived in Ponchatoula for 15 years before moving to Leland, Miss. He was a member of the International Association of Iron Workers Local 58 in New Orleans, LA Chapter, Carrollton Masonic Lodge 36, York Rites Body and the Commander's Council, and J.A. Mayfield Masonic Lodge 165. He is survived by his wife, Stella Ann Smith Mayfield of Carrollton; one son, James Allison Mayfield III of Covington; six daughters, Grace Mayfield Morlino of Carrollton, Mary Ann Mayfield Ballard of Mathiston, Miss., Danice Mayfield Price of Ocean Springs, Miss., Geane Mayfield Roach of Grenada, Miss., Bonnie Evans of California and Nancy Walker of Byhalia, Miss.; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sisk and Mary Lucille Brown Mayfield. The Rev. Tom Johnson conducted the funeral today. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Amory, Miss.
