He was employed at Dow Chemical for more than 28 years and served in the U.S. Army. Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, on Sunday, July 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home on Monday from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m., conducted by Dr. Wayne Barnes and the Rev. Reggie Bridges. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pearl Boyd McBunch of Slaughter; daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" McBunch McMills and husband, Jeff McMills, of Zachary; son, Clay McBunch and wife, Lisa Dominuez McBunch, of Ponchatoula; and five grandchildren, Christie McBunch, Kellie McBunch, Danielle Wagner Vinet, Brittany McMills and Brandy Leigh McMills. He was preceded in death by parents, Henry Clay and Ethel Mae Steele McBunch; sister, Maxine McBunch Jackson; and granddaughter, Brandy Michelle McMills. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Zachary and a 1953 graduate of Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge. He loved fishing and was an avid hunter.
