She was 84, born Feb. 21, 1918, in the East Fork community in Tangipahoa Parish. Visiting at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting in the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Terry Booth, the Rev. Paul Taylor and the Rev. Tom Adams. Interment in Amite Baptist Church Cemetery, Denham Springs. Survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joan M. Stephenson, Denham Springs, and Jeanette and Dan McBride and Emily and Wayne Stewart, all of Watson; two sons and daughters-in-law, F. William "Billy" and Wanda McCants, Laurel, Del., and Charlie and Dawn McCants, Denham Springs; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary and Neil Goodson and Dorothy Entriken, all of Baton Rouge; 11 grand- children and spouses, Jennifer and Dave Borgaila, David and Bonnie McCants, Randy Stephenson, Ted Stephenson, Patrick McCants, James-Adam McCants, Jarod and Mindy McBride, Mark Junker and Bobby and Katie Aliese Stewart; six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Sara and Rosie Borgaila and Ross, Reid and Dane Stephenson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Newton McCants; parents, Leo James Sr. and Maud May Miller Dykes; a brother, L.J. Dykes; and a brother-in-law, Paul Entriken. Grand- children will serve as pallbearers. She was a member of Amite Baptist Church, Denham Springs, and Grace Sunday School Class. She regularly attended the Council on Aging in Denham Springs. She was a 1935 graduate of Ponchatoula High School. Special thanks to Hospice Care of Louisiana.
