SR. Livingston Parish - Charles T. McCarroll Sr., 71, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at his sister's home in Holden. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Myrtis C. McCarroll of Independence; two sons, Charles T. McCarroll Jr. and Michael R. McCarroll, both of Springfield; three sisters, Cora Ann McCarroll Methvien of Holden, Carolyn V. A native of Hammond, he spent most of his years in Tangipahoa and Livingston parishes. He operated a large saw mill in Denham Springs. Funeral services were Monday at Grace Memorial church where burial was in the Grace cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth J. McCarroll; one brother, Thomas O. McCarroll of Hammond; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Cullom, Mrs. W. H. McCarroll, 45, widow of the late Livingston lumberman who died April 16, was found dead Wednesday in the lake at her country home at Holden. She was the former Ruth Jeffers of Roanoke, Ala. Following her first marriage a number of years ago, she moved to San Angelo, Tex. She was a singer over various radio stations in Texas. She married Mr. McCarroll April 18, 1940 in New Orleans. Her husband died in April of this year while she was on a cruise with Texas friends. Funeral arrangements are pending arrival of her mother, Mrs. J. A. Jeffers of Los Angeles, Calif. and a sister from Texas. She was one of 15 children, all of whom are still living. Thomas Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
