Greensburg - James "Reggie" McFerrin Sr., 60, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. A native of Clinton, McFerrin formerly owned Reggie McFerrin Insurance Agencies and was currently chief civil deputy of the St. Helena Parish Sheriff's Department. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve and the Merchant Marines. He is survived by his wife, Betty Alford McFerrin of Greensburg; two daughters, Wendy McFerrin Dover of Greensburg and Miranda McFerrin Spencer of Montpelier; two sons, James Reginald McFerrin Jr. and Timothy Wayne McFerrin, both of Greensburg; one brother, Thomas W. McFerrin; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman Schley McFerrin; and his mother, Zera Henderson McFerrin. Visitation will be Monday at First Baptist Church from 6 to 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the Rev. Luther Stanford conducts the funeral at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Greensburg Cemetery. Greensburg - Thomas Wingate McFerrin Jr., 43, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at his home. A native of Baton Rouge, he was an licensed practicing nurse. He is survived by his parents, Thomas W. Sr. and Nanette McDonald McFerrin of Greensburg; two sisters, Cheri Ann McFerrin and Kim McFerrin Carter; and his maternal grandmother, Nilda Talbert McDonald. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Guy Bentley McDonald Sr.; and his paternal grandparents, Sherman Shley and Zera Henderson McFerrin. The Rev. Sam Leto will conduce a graveside service Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Greensburg Cemetery.
