He retired from South Central Bell with 30 years service in management, 1” years as vice president of First Bank Federal and district aide to U.S. Rep. Richard Baker. After a taste of politics he discovered that he rather enjoyed it and decided to offer himself as a candidate for the office of mayor of Hammond. He served as mayor from 1989 to 1995, and decided he had enough of that. He then spent six years at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond as part-time in public relations and assisted in the Alumni Association organization.
