He was a native of Livingston Parish, a retired millwright and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Kimbrough McKigney of Springfield; a son, Thomas L. McKigney of New Waverly, Texas; and three grand- children. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Morgan McKigney; his mother, Edna Fayard McKigney; his father, James McKigney; five brothers, Thaodewsl, Tellioussl, John E., George and Elmo McKigney; and one sister, Agusta Schliegelmeyer. Visitation will be today at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the Rev. Robert Deich conducts the funeral at 10. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia M. and Larry Jennings, Dallas; two grandchildren and spouses, John A. and Missy Marryman, Loranger, and James A. and Julie Marryman; a great-grandchild, Kaitlyn R. Marryman; a brother, Murphy E. Richardson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, John E. McKigney; parents, Isaac "Ike" Singletary Richardson and Jennie Paul Richardson; eight sisters, Lasca Richardson Bankston, Lois Richardson Kennedy, Edith Richardson Bankston, Gladys "Sweetie" Richardson Treece, Virginia "V.A." Richardson Anzalone, Laura May Richardson Downing, Esther Richardson and Velma Richardson Kennedy; and two brothers, Phillip Singletary Richardson and Llewellyn "Luke" Arnold Richardson. She was the former president of Louisiana Teacher's Association and was active in many professional organizations including Kappa Kappa Iota. She was the first certified special education teacher in Louisiana. The family wishes to thank Hammond Nursing Home for their continuous love and care. A native of Springfield, he is a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a retired member of the Carpenters Local 1846 and a member of Springfield First United Methodist Church. Survivors include four sons, James Richard McKigney of Hammond, Russell McKigney Jr. and Aaron Mark McKigney, both of Springfield, and Brian Keith McKigney of Maurepas; one daughter, Melvina McKigney Lawson of Springfield; one sister, Dorothy "Dot" Lemm of Springfield; and five grandchildren. His parents, Toullas and Edna Elizabeth Fayard McKigney, preceded him in death. Visitation will be Friday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Carter Cemetery.
