Mr. McKinney was born in Luling, Texas, on Sept. 4, 1926, and called Orange, Texas, home since 1941. He was a charter member of the West Orange Volunteer Fire Department and an avid American Indian artifact collector. Mr. McKinney was a maintenance mechanic for E.I. DuPont, Sabine River Works, Orange, for 34 years. He retired in Mount Hermon for 22 years following his employment with DuPont. Many may not remember Mr. McKinney by name, but will remember him fondly as "the peach man" from the peach orchard "hobby" he took up during his long retirement. He was an armed services veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre and in occupied Japan immediately following the armistice. He was 81 at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn McGehee McKinney; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Amy Miller McKinney; daughter, Mimi McKinney; and grandson and namesake, Harlan Kohl Rester, all of Mount Hermon. Surviving brothers and sisters-in-law include Rocellus "Celly" Sr. and Shirley McKinney and Richard and Dianne McKinney, all of Orange. He is also survived by his sister, Claudda McKinney Barrett, and brother-in-law, John Barrett, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Sandy McGehee Reed, of Kentwood; two brothers-in-law, A.W.
