A salesman, pawn broker and antique dealer, he died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at 10:27 a.m. at his residence in Zachary after a lengthy illness. He was 79 and a native of Tangipahoa. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. A private service will be conducted by the Rev. Michael Frazier. Survived by his wife of 31 years, Thanie P. McKinnon of Zachary; former wife and mother of his children, Gloria McKinnon of New Orleans; a daughter, Janie Maher of New Orleans; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Cobb and Nancy Griffon; three sons, Dr. Tim McKinnon of Camano Island, Wash., Ted McKinnon of Jefferson, Texas, and Todd McKinnon of New Orleans; a stepson, James H. Pierce; and 11 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his father and mother, Leonard L. Sr. and Annie DeLee McKinnon; and a sister, Ellen Frazier. He was an active member of the Masons and past master of Istrouma Lodge 414, F&AM. He was a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana and a member of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church.
