She was the former owner of McKneely Funeral Homes of Amite and Kentwood for more than 50 years, an active member of the Camp Moore Museum Society, Daughters of the American Revolution and First Baptist Church of Amite. She is survived by two sons, W. Thomas McKneely Jr. and Wall V. McKneely, both of Amite; one sister, Kathryn Verger Magruder of Franklinton; one brother, J. Lawton Verger, Coos Bay, Ore.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas "Billy" McKneely Sr.; and one brother, Sherwood Verger. The Rev. David Fortenberry conducted the funeral today at First Baptist Church of Amite, and burial was in Amite Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Amite, P.O. Box 935, Amite, 70422. He was 74, a resident and native of Ponchatoula. Visiting was at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting at the funeral home chapel, 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Thursday. Interment in Ponchatoula Cemetery. A construction worker and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006. He was 46 and a native of Independence. Visiting at Rhodes United Fidelity Funeral Home, 2929 Scenic Highway, on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Carlos Bates. Interment in Gilbert Memorial Park. He is survived by his father, Willie Lee Posey; stepmother, Albertha Posey; three sisters, Cynthia Ann Griffen, Jackie and husband Johnnie Winding, and Carla Posey; a stepsister, Rosie R. and husband Richard McAlister; two brothers, Marshall and wife Lisa McKneely and Lee Posey; a stepbrother, George and wife Tanaisha Robins; and two aunts, Betty and husband Mack Taylor and Earline and husband Gene Rightous. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maude Nero.
