J. D. J. McMillan, 32, residing with his family in Pleasant Ridge, Hammond suburb, was killed last Saturday in a car accident near Natalbany, on their way to visit relatives in Osyka, Miss. She was born May 13, 1913, in the Knoxo community in Walthal County, Miss. She was the wife of the late D.J. McMillan Jr. She was the oldest child of the late Henry Louis Guy and the late Annettie Pittman Guy. Her only brother, George Henry Guy, also preceded her in death during World War II. She began her longtime teaching career in Mississippi, teaching at Harperville and Progress. She then taught in the Hammond public school system for 20 years, teaching at Hammond Eastside Elementary, Hammond Westside Elementary, Woodland Park Elementary and Mooney Elementary Schools. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, Hammond. She was very active in all areas of the church until health problems curtailed her activities. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by two children and their spouses, Henry and Pat Barron McMillan, Byrdstown, Tenn., and Ken and Jeannine McMillan Gardner, Hammond; five grandchildren, D.J. McMillan, Dr. Denise McMillan Vosik, Billy McMillan, Laura Gardner Dalton and John Gardner; five great-grandsons, John Michael Gardner Jr., Brett, Brooks and Drew Vosik and Liam Dalton.
