Marcus V. McWaters Jr. died July 20, 2006, in Daphne, Alabama. He was born January 26, 1921, in Allison, Alabama, son of the late Marcus Vernon Sr. and Buena Vesta Atchison McWaters. Prior to retiring from Murphy High School in Moile, AL, he served as head of the Industrial Technology Department at Southeastern Louisiana University. Mr. McWaters was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army-Air Corps as a navigator with the B-17 crew "Wildfire." He was the recipient of several medals along with the Purple Heart and the Prisoner of War. He was very active in veteran organizations that included American ex-POWs, Disabled American Veterans and Purple Hearts. He held officer positions in these organizations and served as commander of the VFW Post 49 in Mobile. Survived by a daughter Karyn O'Bryan, two sons Marcus V. McWaters III and Lewis Shawn McWaters; two sisters Doris McWaters and Jean Hamil; grandchildren Dawn Michelle Oldner, Marcus Alan McWaters, Jessica Roach, Brandon McWaters; great- grandson Trace Oldner. He was preceded in death by his sister Bernice Robertson. ***************************************************************************
