Age 29, a native of Destrehan and resident of Hammond, Casey passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012. He was a 2001 graduate of Oak Forest Academy in Amite and a parishioner of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Casey was employed in the restaurant industry. Casey is survived by his parents, Gerald, Sr. and Marjorie Melancon; son, Casey Michael Melancon, Jr., age 10; siblings, Sherri Melancon, Gerald Melancon, Jr. and wife Geralynn, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Casey in death was his sister, Jerrilynn Hall. Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond, on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a prayer vigil and recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. The visitation will resume at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan today, March 14, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Melancon of Hammond, Charles Melancon of Gonzales, Linden and Karen C. Melancon of Gulfport, Miss., Judy Vicknair of Lutcher and her late husband, Henry Vicknair; son of the late Benjamin Melancon and Claudia Richardson Melancon; and brother of Winnia Reine and the late Carl, Benny, Lester and Windom Melancon, Julia "Noon" Schling, Nora Lambert and Doria Hanna; and grandfather of the late Tricia Vicknair. He is also survived by 14 grand-children and 22 great-grandchildren. A native of Sorrento and a resident of Lutcher, he was retired from LP&L/ Entergy. Mr. Melancon was a member of VFW Post 5852, the Quarterback Club, St. James Boat Club and Lions Club.
