She was born Feb. 13, 1931, in Tangipahoa Parish and was a resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Sunday was 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home on Monday is from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. T.W. Terral. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Pete Meliet; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Andy and Carolyn Walker, David Walker and Gene and Sandy Walker, all of Baton Rouge; a sister, Eloise Simmons, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren, Stephanie David and spouse Ronnie, Janelle Haynesworth and spouse James, Brigitte, Cary, Mike and Chris Walker; three great- grandchildren, Trace and Ronni-Lynn David and Alyssa Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Don Poore. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Elise Shaffett; a brother, Buddy Shaffett; and a sister, Yvonne Poore. She was a member of Lanier Baptist Church.
