MEMTSAS, MARY KANEL
Ponchatoula - Mary Kanel Memtsas, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at her
home. She was a native of Ponchatoula, a member of St. John Lutheran Church
and a volunteer at Mercy Hospital in New Orleans. She is survived by one
daughter, Sylvia Amanda Memtsas Helms of Ponchatoula; and two grand-
children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris Memtsas; her
parents, Frederick and Amanda Riedel Kanel; four sisters, Ruth Hebert,
Lillian Mailhes, Frieda Thomas and Helen White; and one brother, George
Kanel. A memorial service was held today at St. John Lutheran Church in New
Orleans. Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, was in charge.
