MERNAGH RITES ARE HELD - Noted Orleans Poetess Expires at 86 - Funeral services for Mrs. Aline (Deane) Settoon Mernagh, noted New Orleans poetess, were conducted Friday from the House of Bultman. Religious services followed at St. Joseph Church, Ponchatoula, La. Interment was in Wetmore Cemetery, Ponchatoula. Mrs. Mernagh died Thursday after a brief illness. She was 86. A native of Hammond, Mrs. Mernagh received a BA in English from Loyola University. Through the years, her poems appeared in numerous magazines and journals. Her first book of poetry, "Chirping at the Stars", will be published shortly. Mrs. Mernagh was the American representative of the Dr. Samuel Johnson Club of Oxford University; a member of the International Boswell Institute; a member of the "Personalities of the South" for 1970-71 and listed in the current edition of "International Who's Who in Poetry"; a member of the Swordsman Review literary magazine; and a member of the Poetry Society of America. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Bernice Settoon Wilcombe, of New Orleans, and a brother, W. K. Settoon, Sr., of Amite, La.
