A loving wife and mother,she was a well-loved teacher's aide at Hammond High School in the Special Education department for several years. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband, George Merwin III of Hammond, her son and daughter-in-law, George and Kim Merwin of Robert, her daughter, Robin Walz, of Ponchatoula, her daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Roger Rosendale of Ponchatoula, and her daughter, Cory Bourgeois of Hammond. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and Clark Demola of Metairie, her brother and sister-in-law, Louie and Beverly Mayeux of San Antonio, and her sister Claudette Chanson of Kenner. She had eight grandchildren, Russell, Christian, Brandon, Brady, Hunter, Alanna, Olivia, and Ryleigh. They will miss their "mawmaw Carol" very much. She also has numerous nieces who adore her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Shirley Mayeux of New Orleans. Friends will be received Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 5:00 P.M. until the memorial service at 7:00 P.M. George Phillip Merwin Jr., 79, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Hammond Nursing Home. A native of New Orleans, he is survived by one daughter, Mary Michel of Lacombe; five sons, George Merwin III of Hammond, Michael and Patrick Merwin, both of New Orleans, Joseph Merwin of Pennsylvania and Anthony Merwin of Slidell; two sisters, Evelyn Merwin of Abita Springs and Ruth Favaza of New Orleans; one brother, James Merwin of Abita Springs; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Merwin; his second wife, Mary Popich Merwin; one brother, Fredrick Merwin; and one sister, Sellma Adams. Visitation and funeral arrangements will be private.
