CARRECA A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, Josephine A. Carreca Messina a native of Independence and resident of Baton Rouge passed away Sunday November 18, 2012 at the age of 94. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lillie Messina Johnston and Pete of Baton Rouge, Jovanna Messina Ledet of Gheens, Cynthia Messina Rainwater and Danny of Pride and Jackie Messina Roberts and Mike of Baton Rouge, eight grandchildren, Aaron Johnston, Daron Johnston and wife Cheryl, Craig Johnston and wife Ly, Angel Lumpkin and husband Steven, Kelli Ledet, Christy Gatlin and husband Kevin, Shannon Hunt and husband Dustin, Kaysie Roberts and fiancˇ Michael Truax, eighteen great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Adrienne Mullen, Jacob Johnston, Kelly George, Emily Johnston, Shjon and Sena Johnston, Aaron, Brett, and Blake Ledet, Justin Ledet and fiancˇ' Laurielle Boudreaux, Lakelyn and Madison Lumpkin, Emily and Connor Gatlin, and Nicholas, Nathan and Hannah Hunt and three great, great grandchildren, Collin Richardson and Landon and Dade Ledet. Preceded in death by her husband, Jack Nick Messina, grandson, Lanny David Ledet, parents, Tony and Giovanni Lala Carreca, four sisters and five brothers. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Tuesday November 20, 2012 from 9am until mass of Christian burial at 10 am officiated by Rev. Trey Nelson. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
