The middle daughter of the late John and Carmella Aloisio, Mary lived at the McKinney HealthCare Center in McKinney, Texas, where her eldest daughter Lynne also resides with her husband Gerry. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 23, 1915, she married Edward Miazga in 1937 and served as the head of billing and accounting for their firm, Lakesite Wall and Floor Covering, incorporated in 1950 in Algonquin, Illinois. In 1975 Mary and her husband retired to Franklinton, LA, where her husband died in 1979 and where she continued to live until 1995. She soon became a Foster Grandparent with Head Start, of which she has said, "I love being here with the children. You get so many hugs and kisses here that you so need and want when you're alone. The children are so adorable." When she moved to Hammond, LA, in 1995 to be closer to her youngest daughter, Dana, she continued her work as a Foster Grandparent, and volunteered at North Oaks Health System until 2004 when diminished health necessitated her retirement at age 89. She summed up her volunteer work in 2001: "This keeps me going. It gives me a reason to get up in the morning. It's been a long time for me to be alone.... I've been blessed with hundreds of grand- children." She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, brother Martin, the middle of nine Aloisio children, sister Ann, the eldest daughter, brother Anthony, the eldest child, brothers Samuel and Peter, and her parents. She is survived by brothers Francis and Michael of Chicago, sister Phyllis of Ponchatoula, LA, son Ronald and wife Marcia of Vicksburg, MI, daughter Lynne and husband Gerry Strope of McKinney, TX, and youngest daughter Dana and husband Donald Goblowsky of Hammond, LA, five grand- children, and six great-grandchildren. Masses in her memory are welcome, and contributions to the American Cancer Society are suggested by the family. A Mass will be celebrated in her honor on Saturday, January 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church and a luncheon will follow at the home of Don, Dana and Taylor Goblowsky, 5 Oakley Drive, in Hammond. Requiescat in pace. *************************************************************************** File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/tangipahoa/obits/obitssur/miazga.txt
