"MIKE" Mr. G. E. "Mike" Michael was born Jan. 28, 1930, and passed away at 5:55 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. Mr. Mike was 78, a native of Greensburg, Pa., and a resident of Amite. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and the Tangipahoa Parish school system. He is the son of the late Darrell and Helen Snyder Michael. Mr. Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Dykes Michael. He is survived by two daughters, Lauri Michael Girgenti and husband Nic, Amite, and Lisa Michael Kimball and husband Mike, Ponchatoula; two sons, Darrell H. Michael and wife Denise, Amite, and Matthew Eugene Michael, Lafayette; grandchildren, Blythe G. Tabony, Sarah Girgenti, Jason Kimball, Adrienne Kimball, Kerri Anne Michael, Lacey Chunn, Nicholas Michael and Alex Michael; great-grandson, Dylan Chunn; and special family, Tonya Kent and Michelle Bordelon Michael. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Michael; and a grandson, Michael Anthony Girgenti. Visitation at McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, on Monday, Sept. 15, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 8 a.m. until just before the religious service at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Amite, with the Rev. Brady Whitton officiating. Interment at the Kedron Cemetery with full military honors.
