A resident of Hammond, he died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Live Oak Village Assisted Living Center, Hammond. He was 99 and a native of Port Arthur, Texas. Memorial service will be at First Christian Church in Hammond at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9. He is survived by two daughters, Judith M. Seale, Hammond, and Katherine M. Rose, Bryan, Texas; three grandchildren; and a sister, Mary M. Graf, Texas. Preceded in death by his wife, Norine Thompson Milburn; parents, William and Amelle Dubisson Milburn; and five brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tangipahoa Parish Food Pantry. He was the first resident at Live Oak Village Assisted Living Center in Hammond. Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, is in charge of arrangements. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 3/13/2000 MILBURN, JOANN GANDY A retired elementary school teacher, having taught in Webster, Caddo, East Baton Rouge, Orleans and Tangipahoa parishes for a total of 30 years, she died Sunday, March 12, 2000, following a lengthy illness of breast cancer. She was 68 and a native of Many. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday. Funeral services at First United Methodist Church of Hammond at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Ken Jacocks. Interment in Rose Memorial Cemetery, Hammond. Survived by her husband, William H. Milburn, Hammond; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn Milburn Stuart and Spencer Jerome Stuart; a son, William Todd Milburn; and two grandchildren, William Edward Spencer Stuart and Kathryn Lane Stuart, all of Atlanta; and a brother, William Reginald Gandy. Preceded in death by her parents, Jewel Pilcher Gandy and William Otis Gandy, who lived in Many. She was a graduate of Northwestern State University, where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. She held a master's degree in education from LSU and 30 plus hours from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. She was a member of the Louisiana Retired Teachers' Organization and was treasurer of the Lydia Circle of United Methodist Women at First United Methodist Church of Hammond. Mr. William H. "Bill" Milburn Jr., 83 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, at North Oaks Medical Center. He was born on Friday, August 30, 1929, in Shreveport, Louisiana, son of the late William Hardy, Sr. and Beulah Mercer Milburn. Mr. Milburn was an avid LSU Football fan and he also loved golf. He was a Past President of Oak Knoll Country Club and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hammond. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and retired from U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve as Director of Internal Audit. Surviving are his daughter, Kathryn Milburn Stuart, son, William Todd Milburn, grandson, William Edward Spencer "Wes" Stuart, and granddaughter, Kathryn "Katy" Lane Stuart. He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, JoAnn Gandy Milburn, brothers, Lewis and John Milburn, sisters, Lula Mae White, and Willie Pat Howard. Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church of Hammond. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Hammond, Tuesday, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Joe Donakey officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery Hammond, Louisiana.
