A professor of biology and zoology at Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond, from 1977 to 1993, when he retired because of Alzheimer's disease, he died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. He was 63, a resident of Baker Care Center, former resident of Hammond and native of Skene, Miss. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and also served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Mississippi. He was a graduate of Delta State and received his doctorate from the University of Mississippi. Survived by a son, Stephen Ashley Millican, Biloxi, Miss.; a daughter, Tanya Millican Bankston, Albany; two grandchildren, John Kinion Bankston III and Brandie Leigh Bankston, both of Albany; four sisters, Peggy Sullivan, Rock Hill, S.C., Lucille McCool, Cleveland, Miss., Jean Millen, Drew, Miss., and Pat Whitfield, Bradenton, Fla.; and a brother, Jimmy Millican, Houston. Preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Sarah McDaniel Millican. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation in the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. until religious services at 1 p.m. Friday, conducted by Deacon Wallace Gainey. Interment in Carter Cemetery, Springfield. ***************************************************************************
