He was born on Saturday, February 17, 1934, in Hammond, son of the late Charlie Mondebello and the late Virginia Mondebello. He was a self-taught musician who based his singing style on his longtime idol, Hank Williams Sr. I will forever hear my DaddyÕs voice whenever I hear "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry". "That doesnÕt mean he couldnÕt "Shake, Rattle, and Roll" with the best of them. I know I get my insane love of music from him," from daughter Peggy. Surviving are daughter & son-in-law, Peggy Russo and Chris Russo, daughter, Virginia Paula Mondebello, son, Phillip Mondebello Jr. and DeAnne Mondebello, grandchildren, Lacey Mulkey, Evan Mondebello, Madeline Mondebello, Nicholas Mondebello, grandchildren and wife, Dustin and Sabrina LaMarca, and Caitan and Justin Adney, sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and T.J. He was a native of Independence, a retired plumber and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by one daughter, Virginia Mondebello Nicolosi, Metairie; one son, Charles Mondebello of Franklinton; one sister, Margaret Muscarello of Tickfaw; two brothers, Phillip Mondebello of Tickfaw and Vincent Mondebello Jr. of LaPlace; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and the "matriarch" of her family. Vickie was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond and was involved in several local community organizations, including the Southeastern Louisiana University Felions and the Hammond Chamber of Commerce. She was a businesswoman in the Hammond community for 48 years, owning and operating, with her husband, Anthony "Tony" J. Mondebello, Scariano's Grocery and Market and Shoppers' Shoe Center in Hammond from 1960 until retiring in 1983. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Johnny Vicknair; son and daughter- in-law, David and Michelle DePaula Mondebello; four grandchildren, Joey Perrone and wife Stacy, Jeffrey Perrone and wife Anne, Chad Mondebello and Elise Mondebello; and three great-grandchildren, Drake and Keri Perrone, and Kaylin Perrone. Also surviving Vickie are two step-grandchildren, Mindy Wilson and John Vicknair IV; along with a stepgreat-grandson, Kai Wilson. Preceding Vickie in death were her husband, Anthony "Tony" J. Mondebello; and parents, Thomas and Lucy Scariano. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G.
