George F. Montalbano Sr., born Sept. 17, 1939, and a native of New Orleans, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at his residence in Hammond. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Joanne Wildey Montalbano; daughters, Erin M. Bolton and Holly M. Montalbano, both of Hammond; son, George F. Montalbano II, of Chicago; grandchildren, Reed, Regan and Olivia Bolton; "granddog," Jack; brothers, Joseph, A.J., Calvin and Gerald Montalbano; sister, Loretta Hardy Dagro; and mothers-in-law, Louise L. Wildey, of Hammond, and Mrs. Thomas Wildey Sr., of Lafitte. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph P. and Tilda Marie Montalbano; and three brothers, Chuck and Johnny Cerniglia and Theodore Montalbano. Visitation will be at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, on Tuesday, Feb. 3, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cayet Mangiaracina at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, Tickfaw, at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment in the church cemetery. She was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend whom will be missed dearly. Joanne leaves behind her three children, Erin Montalbano Bolton and husband Tommy, Holly M. Montalbano and fiance Marc Young, George F. Montalbano and friend Peter Go, along with three grandchildren, Olivia Bolton, Reed James Bolton and Regan Olivia Bolton. She is also survived by her mother, Louise Lombas Wildey; step-mother, Geraldine C. Wildey; sisters, Susie W. Jeandron and Carrie W. Hebert; brother, Tommy J. Wildey, Jr. and wife Christy; step-brother, Petey Chessher and wife, Nancy; step- sister, Barbara Jean Messmer and husband, Johnny, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Joanne in death were her husband, George F. Montalbano, Sr. and father, Thomas J. Wildey, Sr. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G.
