He was 90 and a native of Kentwood. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having received two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and Philippine Liberation Medal. Visiting at St. Mark Catholic Church, 42021 La. 621, Gonzales, Saturday, Dec. 26, from 8:30 a.m. until Mass at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Joel LaBauve, celebrant. Burial in Faithful United Cemetery, 14253 La. 431, St. Amant. Survived by his wife, Birma Williams Montet; daughters, Kathleen Breaux, Patty Montet, Jeannie Rasmussen, Melanie Cullen and Melinda Percy; sons, Charles Boze and Mark Montet; 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Agnes Montet; two sisters, Vera Addison and Louise Lee; and brother, Vesta "Bud"Montet. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Mark Boze, Austin Reis, Alexi Beresokin, Josh Rasmussen, Sean Cullen, Adrian Montet and Conner Percy. He was a 1937 graduate of Catholic High School. He was 84 and a native of Kentwood. Visiting at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10 a.m. until funeral Mass at noon Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Martin and Monsignor William Greene. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Louise Montet Lee and Carter Russell Lee of Baton Rouge; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles M. Montet and Birma W. Montet of Baton Rouge; and a stepson, Dr. H.O. Blackwood of Shreveport. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peace Pugh "Be-b’" Montet; parents, Charles J. and Agnes Montet; and a sister, Vera Montet Addison. He graduated from Baton Rouge High School and attended LSU.
