He was 69 and a native of Ponchatoula. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Visiting at Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand, Lafayette, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, with recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m., led by Deacon Paul and the Knights of Columbus. Visiting at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Edmond Catholic Church, Lafayette, at 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Gary Schexneider, pastor. Graveside military rites at Fountain Memorial Gardens. Musical selections will be sung by Joni Hamilton, and include "Ave Maria," "Amazing Grace," "Come Holy Ghost" and "On Eagle's Wings." Survived by his wife, Ruth Bourgoyne Morales, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on Aug. 14, 1998; his mother, Delphine Morales Albert, Plaisance; a son, Donald J. Morales, Lafayette; seven daughters, Toni (Mrs. Henry Jr.) Daigle, Port Allen, Peggy (Mrs. Brian) Swavely, Baton Rouge, Lisa (Mrs. Chris) Bonin, Scott, Karen Morales, Susan (Mrs. Kenneth) Melancon, Abby M Saboe and Julie M. Lambert, all of Lafayette; a sister, Ella M. Poché, Plaquemine; three half-sisters, Elise Boudreaux, Gonzales, Hazel Bergeron, Port Allen, and Inez Bourgeois, Ponchatoula; four stepsisters, Helen Medina, White Castle, Celeste Allemand, Margie Schafer and Eunice Tiercuit, all of Plaquemine; a step- brother, Herman Albert, Texas; 10 grandchildren and two great-grand- children. Preceded in death by father, Andrew Morales; a brother, Andrew Morales Jr.; a sister, Sadie Rabalais; two half-brothers, Paul Morales and Hanson Morales; and a half-sister, Nita Raiford. Pallbearers will be Henry Daigle Jr., Kenneth Melancon, Chris Bonin, Kody Morales, Roland Landry Jr. and Ray Legere. Honorary pallbearers are the ushers of St. Edmond Catholic Church, Trey Daigle, Brian Swavely and Bobby Songy. He was a faithful member of St. Edmond Catholic Church where he served as an usher, as well as a 3rd and 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 10293. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was a member of Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, where he served as a trustee for 38 years and a member of the parish council for 20 years.
