Bernel B. Mullen a current resident of Ponchatoula formerly of New Orleans began her heavenly journey on August 20, 2007 at the age of 70. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Elizabeth and Phillip Jackson; grand daughter and grand son- in- law, Kim Cortez & Zachary Kuehn; grandsons, Drew P. & Cory C. Cortez, great-grandsons, Braxton W. and Maddox D. Kuehn, all of Ponchatoula, and a sister, Gayle B. Russo of Jackson, MS. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Donald G. Mullen; her parents, Irby P. & Nolia LaBorde Bordelon; and her brother, Paul Bordelon. He was a native of New Orleans. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a retired Merchant Marine officer and a member of Master, Mates and Pilots Union. He is survived by his wife, Bernel Bordelon-Mullen of Ponchatoula; one daughter, Elizabeth Cortez of Ponchatoula; five grandchildren; and one sister, Una Mae McCrossen of Harahan. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Stuber; and his parents, Una and Clayton Mullen. A memorial service was held this morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ponchatoula. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. James B. Mullen, 80 years old of Albany, Louisiana, died Monday, February 27, 2006 in North Oaks Medical Center. He was born Thursday, June 25, 1925 in Belle, Tennessee. He was a Deputy Sheriff for the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Department for 34 years, from 1972 until his recent retirement. He served under, Sheriffs Taft Faust, Odom Graves and Willie Graves. Surviving are his wife, Margaret "Maggie" Hutchinson Mullen; son, Mark Mullen; step-daughter and husband, Essie Marie and Bobby Parent; step son and wife, Bobby Kent Gill, Sr. and Betty Jane Gill; numerous grandchildren and great-grand children. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Mullen and great-grandson, Ben Ribando. Friends will be received Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Services will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel, at 10:30 with Dr. Rodney Taylor officiating. Sterling Mullen, Jr., 49, passed away on March 12, 2012 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA. He is survived by his son, Sterling Mullen, III and siblings; Gilda Williams, Michael Jones, Kenneth, Mullen, Phyliss Felton, Troy Bullock, Solomon Lewis, Jr., Dewitt Jackson , Linda Jackson and Jerry Jackson. Visitation will take place on Friday March 16, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at Greenfield Baptist Church.
