She was 61, born in Independence, and was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. She was a cum laude graduate of the LSU School of Journalism, where she was awarded the Manship Scholarship. She was a member of the Public Relations Association of Louisiana and was the public relations director for RWN Communications. She was the former public relations director for the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, where she received a Lantern Award, for Dixon Memorial Hospital and for the Louisiana Republican Party. She was formerly the press secretary for the 1988 Bush Campaign of Louisiana, editor of the Police Jury Association Magazine, deputy director of the Department of Urban and Community Affairs, and was the assistant secretary of consumer protection for the state. She was a member and past secretary of the Pelican Relic and Recovery Club and was a member of Mensa. She served as the training director for the docents at the LSU Rural Life Museum and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where she served on the Cafâ Hope Committee.
