Mary Ann devoted her life to nursing, initially as a licensed practical nurse and then as a registered nurse. She was a compassionate, professional nurse for 40 years. She is survived by a loving daughter, Leslie Navarro, of Lafayette; sister, Clare Miller, of Baton Rouge; niece, Laurie Milton Hamilton, of Springdale, Ark.; and nephew, Jeff Milton, of Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyce and Lucille Rankin Miller. Memorial services for Mary Ann will be held in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille, 330 St. Landry St., Lafayette, on Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m. The family requests that visitation be observed from 10 a.m. until time of service. The Rev. Steven Younger, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Lafayette, will officiate the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 1604 W. She was 93. She was in retail clothing sales, having worked at Elliot's Store in Amite and Ponchatoula, The Vogue, Rosenblum's and T-Marie's and was co-owner of Vickie's Fashions. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Religious service at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence, at 10 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Paul McDuffey. Entombment in Colonial Mausoleum. Survived by two sons, Sal C. Navarro and Blaise Joseph Navarro Sr., both of Independence; three grandchildren, Vickie Schulmerich, Gresham, Ore., Regina Gill, Independence, and Blaise J. Navarro Jr., Loranger; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Schittone, Baton Rouge; and a brother, Carlo Lavigne, Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by her husband, Dominick S. Navarro; three brothers, Frank, Joe and Sal Lavigne; and two sisters, Lena Donaugh and Rose Guzzardo. She was an avid card enthusiast, having been a member of the Ladies Card Club of Independence for more than 60 years.
