Preceded in death by his sister, Doris Kennon. A graduate of Ponchatoula High School and of Southeastern Louisiana University, she represented Ponchatoula High School as an outstanding basketball player, a cheerleader and Miss PHS. She taught in Alcorn County, Aberdeen and Fulton, Mississippi. She retired from Itawamba Community College as a counselor and a cheerleader sponsor. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Fulton, MS. Survivors include her husband, Wayne Newsom, of Fulton, MS; two daughters, Kim Fuller, Fayetville, Arkansas and Laurie Brown, Senatobia, Mississippi; one sister, Jessie Rollins, Carriere, Mississippi; and one brother, Larry Watts, Ponchatoula.
