He was born on April 4, 1991, in Hammond. Bruce was a 2009 honor graduate of St. Thomas. While at St. Thomas, Bruce was a member of the Key Club and was captain and four-year letterman of the track team; captain and three-year letterman in soccer and proud member of 2008 Louisiana state champion soccer team; and member and four-year letterman of the cross country team. Bruce planned to attend LSU in the fall. Bruce is survived by his parents, Bruce and Geri O'Krepki, of Hammond; two brothers, Max and Gus; a sister, Molly; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. O'Krepki and Mr. and Mrs. George Linton Hoffer III; uncles, Rick O'Krepki and his wife, Yvette, and George Hoffer and his wife, Catherine; cousins, Sara O'Krepki, Ryan O'Krepki, Alex Hoffer and Lucy Hoffer. Preceded in death by his grand- mother, Iris Picou O'Krepki; and a cousin, Andrew Joseph O'Krepki. Bruce attended Oaks Montessori School through the seventh grade and graduated from Trafton Academy. Bruce created many memories with his friends and family. He was a scholar, an athlete and a friend. He participated in track in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) for four years and was the 2006 National Club Champion in the steeplechase. He volunteered and participated in many activities at St. Thomas Aquinas High School including the swim team, drama club, Beta Club, Key Club and the Candy Krewe. The O'Krepki family wishes to thank all those who have helped Bruce truly and fully enjoy all 18 years of his life. A memorial Mass celebrating Bruce's life will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 601 N. Oak St., Hammond, on Monday, June 1, at 10 a.m. The Most Rev. Robert W. Muench, D.D., Bishop of Baton Rouge, will be the celebrant and the Very Rev. Randy Cuevas, S.T.L., V.F., will be the homilist. Following the Mass, friends of the family are welcome to visit in the Commons at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, 14520 Voss Drive, Hammond. In lieu of flowers, the O'Krepki family requests that donations be made to the Bruce Anton O'Krepki Memorial Scholarship Fund established at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, 14520 Voss Drive, Hammond, LA 70401.
