Born in Kentwood, "Miss Onie" as she was known, taught for more than 40 years at Ponchatoula High School. She graduated from Kentwood High School, Louisiana State Normal College and the Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. At Ponchatoula High she inaugurated the girls physical education program in 1938, teaching and coaching in all of the girls varsity sports programs until her retirement in 1972. She served as faculty sponsor to the Wavettes, cheerleaders and the PHS Girls Letter Club for many years. After retiring from the school system, she was a dealer and manager with Engen Sales Co., a Tupperware distributorship for 19 years and traveled all over the world before retiring to Belle Maison Nursing Home. She was a past member of the Ponchatoula Gardenettes and attended the First Baptist Church where she was active with the WMU and Lottie Moon Circle. She is survived by son son, Walter Joachim Ordoyne of Concord, N.C.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Ethel Bailey Brown; three sisters, Audrey Brown, Martha Wesholz and Gertrude Mixon. Visitation will be Friday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until the Rev. Jake Roudkovski conducts the funeral at 10. She was a native of Vacherie. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Valcour and Azelie Borne Ordoyne; seven brothers, Clifford, Joachim, Roland, Walter, Henry, Lucien and Edward Ordoyne; and two sisters, Arthemise Ordoyne and Viola O. Born on Friday, April 13, 1934 in Independence, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Pamela Fabre Leonard. She worked as a Police Officer in Ponchatoula for over 20 years, achieving the rank of Captain. Surviving are one son, Kelly Ordoyne; two daughters, Paulette Pepitone, Lisa Donaldson; eight grandchildren, one great-grandson; a brother, Leroy Leonard; and her sister, Dorothy Ezell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Ordoyne and granddaughter, Britni Donaldson. Services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monday, September 4, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Justin R. Kauchak, O.P. officiating. He was a highly decorated veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart.
