Christopher M. Osby, 36, died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at a local medical center. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Dyess Air Force Base Chapel, Abilene, Texas, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the funeral home in Abilene. A graveside service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011, in Brown-Quinn Cemetery, Tangipahoa, Louisiana, with full military honors. Christopher was born October 29, 1974 to Connie (Osby) and Michael Jackson. He joined the United States Air Force to serve his country at the age of 17 with his MomÕs permission. Christopher met his wife, Rhonda Strong, at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. They were married May 5, 1995 in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. During his 19 year career in the Air Force, Christopher served in Ramstein AB, Germany (1992-1994), RAF Lakenheath, England (1994-1997), Moody AFB, GA (1997-2001), Eglin AFB, FL (2001-2003), Edwards AFB, CA (2003-2005), Kunsan AB, ROK (2005-2006) and Dyess AFB, TX (2006-present). He was a member of the 7th Component Maintenance Squadron. Christopher loved motor cycles and riding; was an avid sports fan, especially football (number one fan of New Orleans Saints and Louisiana State University Football Team) and boxing. He loved to grill with friends and spend time with his family. He was preceded in death by two uncles, Curtis Osby and Raymond Osby and his grandparents, James and Frances Osby. Survivors include; his mother, Connie Osby Moore and husband, Darrell, of Tangipahoa, Louisiana; his father, Michael Jackson; his wife, Rhonda L. Osby of Abilene; two sons, Christopher M. Osby, Jr. and Xavier D. Osby, both of Abilene; a sister-in-law, Robbie Moore and husband, Vernon; father- in-law, Edward Strong; mother-in-law, Edith Powell; a host of aunts and uncles who were like sisters and brothers; a niece, Anissa Moore of Houston; and two nephews, Vernon Moore and Myles Moore, both of Houston. Survivors include one son, Charles Osby of New Orleans; three sisters, Celestine Walker and Ruby Cobb, both of Kentwood, and Josephine Sibley of Hammond; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her parents, Clarence and Mary Osby; one son, Bernard Osby; and three brothers, Willie, James and L.C. Osby, all preceded her in death.
