Funeral services were held Tuesday in Franklinton and interment was in the family plot in Ellis Cemetery at Franklinton. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge): 11/4/2004 OTT, O.P., SISTER MARY ALOYSIUS (RUTH ROSEMARY) Sister Mary Aloysius, age 79 years and in her 58th year of religious profession, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at 3:15 p.m. at Meadowcrest Hospital. Sister Mary Aloysius was born Ruth Rosemary Ott in Gretna. She was the daughter of the late Manuel P. Ott Sr. and Lucille Berthelot Ott, and sister of the late Manuel P. Ott Jr. and Bishop Stanley Joseph Ott, S.T.D. Sister Mary Aloysius received a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics from St. Mary's Dominican College, New Orleans, bachelor of science degree in medical record science from Incarnate Word College, San Antonio, and a master's degree in elementary education from Loyola University, New Orleans. After professing her vows as a Dominican sister in 1947, Sister Mary Aloysius taught at Mater Dolorosa, Independence, St. Peter, Reserve, Holy Ghost, Hammond, and served as principal at St. Anthony of Padua and St. Leo the Great in New Orleans. In 1960, sister was on staff at the opening of Seventh Ward Hospital, Hammond, as medical records librarian. She became administrator of the hospital in 1968, and in 1972, she was made director of medical records services before leaving in October 1978 to become assistant administrator at the Chateau de Notre Dame in New Orleans. In 1979, Sister Mary Aloysius became administrator of Metairie Manor, a residence for senior citizens in Metairie, where she served until 2003. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center. Sister is survived by several devoted cousins. Visitation at Dominican Sisters Motherhouse chapel, 580 Broadway, New Orleans, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, with a prayer service at 4:45 p.m. Visitation at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 6425 W. Metairie Ave., Metairie, from 8:30 a.m. until funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, celebrated by Most Rev. Alfred C. Hughes, archbishop of New Orleans. Interment in the Dominican Sisters Cemetery, Rosaryville community, Ponchatoula.
