"TOMMY" Funeral service will be held Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Crowley, for A. E. "Tommy" Oubre, 82, who died Thursday, Nov. 24, at 11:50 a.m. at American Legion Hospital in Crowley. The Rev. Roger Tarver and the Rev. Larry Evans will officiate the service. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family requests visiting hours be observed Saturday, Nov. 26, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 27, from 11 a.m. to service time. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jean Arnold Oubre of Crowley; a daughter, Sandra Oubre of Baton Rouge; son, Michael Oubre and his wife, Shyrlene, of Kenner; three sisters, Iris O. Develle of Metairie, Eula O. Boudreaux of Laplace and Cynthia O. Vicknair of Reserve; three brothers, Allen Oubre of Norco, Richard Oubre of Reserve and Ronald Oubre of Amite; five grandchildren, Erin Oubre, Danielle Oubre, Caitlin Oubre, Kaleb Freeman and Tyler Freeman. Mr. Oubre was a veteran of the U.S Navy having served his country as a third class torpedoman aboard the USS Campbell during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church since 1955 and a church deacon. He was a member of American Legion Post 15 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6720. He was owner and operator of Tommy's Welding Service with a motto of "Anything but a broken heart." Mr. Oubre was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Marcel Oubre Jr. and Edwina Englade Oubre. The family requests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 228 E. A resident of Hammond, he died Thursday, May 27, 1999, in Hammond. He was 33 and a native of Morgan City. Visitation at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Hammond, 9 a.m. Saturday until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., conducted by a Dominican priest. Entombment in Rose Memorial Mausoleum. Survived by his father, Blaine A. Oubre Sr., Hammond; a brother, Edgar J. Oubre, Baton Rouge; and a sister, Rene M. Oubre, Denver. Preceded in death by mother, Joyce Simoneaux Oubre; and grandparents, Edgar and Lucie Haydel Oubre and Clay and Pearl Hebert Simoneaux. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of his mother, Joyce Simoneaux Oubre.
