She was 72 and a native of Hutchinson, Kan. Visiting at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday. Religious services at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Mitch Williams. Entombment in Colonial Mausoleum, Independence. Survived by her husband of 55 years, Harold Overby, Independence; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Julie Overby and Ma'Moun Sukkar, Baton Rouge, and Jenny Overby and Vincent Magliolo, Hammond; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael H. Overby, Lake Charles, Gregory L. and Teresa Overby, Indianapolis, Ind., and Gary C. and Jeanette Overby, Independence; a sister, Phyllis Brister, Jefferson, Ore.; a brother, Gary L. Cooper, Jefferson; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter, Jeri-Lyn Overby; and parents, Lloyd and Mildred Newburn Cooper. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dr. Salim Sukkar, Dr. Samir Sukkar, Gerrod Overby, Christopher Magliolo, John Magliolo, Gregory M. Overby and Eric Magliolo. Honorary pallbearers are Gary L. Cooper, James D. Brister and Michael Migliore. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Independence, and a volunteer pink lady at North Oaks Medical Center. HAROLD Died at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at his residence in Baton Rouge. He was 89, a native of Gunn, Miss., and a former longtime resident of Independence Visitation was at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18. Visitation at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Mitch Williams. Entombment in Colonial Mausoleum, Independence. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie Overby and Ma'moun Sukkar, Baton Rouge, and Jenny Overby and Vincent Magliolo, Mandeville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael H. and Debbie Overby, Sunset, Gregory L. and Teresa Overby, Indianapolis, and Gary C. and Jeanette Overby, Independence. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lee Cooper Overby; daughter, Jeri-Lyn Overby; parents, four sisters and two brothers. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Salim Sukkar, M.D., Samir Sukkar, M.D., Gerrod Overby, John Magliolo, Gregory Overby and Eric Magliolo. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Independence, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baton Rouge Hospice.
