He was 75 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home chapel, Hammond, from 9 a.m. until religious service at noon Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Leon Dunn. Interment in Mount Stevens Cemetery, Tickfaw. Survived by three sons, Dudley L. Painting and T.C. Painting, both of Loranger, and Bill Painting, Amite; two daughters, Connie Harper-Painting, Loranger, and Sandra L. Painting, Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladys P. Fendlason, Robert, and Margaret P. DeKerlegand, Hammond. Preceded in death by his wife, Allie McGehee Painting; parents, William Walker and Geneva Calmes Painting; a granddaughter, Rachel Harper; three sisters, Oleta P. Morse, Evelyn Rae P. Mathews and Rubye P. Jones; and two brothers, John and Glenn "Dick" Painting. William W. Painting of Hammond, who was born and reared in Amite, died Wednesday, January 23rd at his home. A carpenter and a farmer by occupation, he was 65 years of age. Funeral services were held Thursday at the graveside in Stevens cemetery east of Tickfaw. Brown Funeral Home was in charge. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Geneva Calmes Painting, Hammond; one son, Cecil of Holden; five daughters, Mrs. Lolita Morse, Robert; Mrs. Gladys Fendlason, Loranger; Mrs. Ruby Jones, Hammond; Mrs. Margaret McKenney, Tickfaw and Mrs. Rae Matthews, Austin, Texas; two brothers, Charles of Independence and Ernest of Amite; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Hoffman, Hammond, Mrs. Emma Brown, Amite and Mrs. Camille Ritchie, Loranger. ***************************************************************************
