He was 83 and a native of Independence. Visiting was at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2004. Visiting at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004, celebrated by the Rev. Vic Messina. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife, Madeline Maggio Palazzotto; two sons, Johnny R. and James "Shep" Palazzotto; a daughter, Grace and husband Bill Rigell; sisters, Mary, Francis, Josie, Jennie and Annie; five grandchildren, Tim, Ronnie, Donna, Jeneé and Garrett; and three great-grand- children, Matthew, Joshua and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Virginia Margo Palazzotto; two sisters, Rosie and Josie; two brothers, Vincent and Joseph; and a son, Sammy. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was retired, having worked at Audubon Ford for 37 years, the Auto Hotel as general manager and Johnny Rogers Esso as manager. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Palazzotto, George "Nebe" Kadair, Dale Langlois, Glenn Wallace, Joseph LoBianco and Vincent Maggio. Thanks to Dr. Gerald Barber, Dr. Terry Rehn and Dr. Eugene Berry. ************************************************************************* Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 2/05/2001 PALAZZOTTO, SALVADORE JOSEPH "JO JO" A resident of Baton Rouge, he went to be with the Lord at 11:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 75 and a native of Independence. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, having attained the rank of corporal, and received a Purple Heart during the Korean conflict. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. Tuesday. Religious services at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 2121 N. Sherwood Forest Drive, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Maynard Hurst. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Anna Grazioli Palazzotto, Baton Rouge; five sisters, Mary Campsie, Mandeville, Josie Nicolsi, Frances Crapanzanzo and Jennie Scalia, all of Hammond, and Annie Wallace, Natalbany; a brother, Johnny J. Palazzotto, Baton Rouge; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Vincenza Margo Palazzotto; two sisters, Rose Monstiere and Josie Gagliano; and a brother, Vincent Palazzotto. He was a member of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church.
