She was born on Sunday, February 10, 1924 in New Orleans, daughter of the late Theodore and Florence Byrnes Betzer. Surviving are her 2 daughters, Pauline Krenkel and her husband Frank, JoAnn Boos and her husband Donald; 3 grandchildren, Catherine Miceli, Debra Beltran, Steven Boos and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Palermo, 3 brothers, and 6 sisters. Friends will be received Thursday, August 23, 2007 at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 10:00 am until the religious service begins at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery. He is survived by two sons, Joseph Palermo Jr. of Hammond and Glenn Palermo of Athens, Tenn.; one daughter, Tina Carr of Denham Springs; five grand- children and one great-grandchild; and five sisters, Josephine Bivona, Pauline Verzwyvelt, Rose Pennino, Ann Bravata and Congetta Palermo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lee Broom Palermo; and two brothers, Frank and Jake Palermo. She was a native of and resident of Hammond. Lucy was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. She retired from Walgreens Drug Store. Lucy leaves behind her two sons, Joseph Palermo and wife Linda and Glenn Palermo and wife Theresa; two sisters, Clara Baglio and Phyllis Spalitta; brother, Pete Silessi; three grandchildren, Maggie Vining, Brad Palermo, Glenn Palermo Jr.; two great grandsons, Will Landry and Brant Palermo. Preceding Lucy in death were her parents, Camille and Annie Silessi, brothers, Sam, Vincent, and Frank Silessi; sisters, Mary Spalitta, Josie Zappula and Frances Cannino. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G.
