He was 80 years old. Jody was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee' Parent; his parents, Belle and Harry Parent; and two sisters, Mickey Storey and Katherine Metz. He is survived by his wife, Cherokee Parent of Valdosta, GA; three sons, Alvin (Leslie) Parent, Jr. of Valdosta, GA, Donald Parent of Mobile and Morgan Dean (Shirley) Parent of Valdosta, GA; five grandchildren, Deanna Harrison of Mobile, Todd and Matthew of Pine Bluff, AR, Dr. Morgan Denise (Matthew) Ward of Hernando, MS, and Shelly Parent of Oxford, MS; and five great- grandchildren, Logan, Evan, Brandon, Breckin, and Sora. He leaves behind five brothers, Harry Parent, Jr., Paul (Anna) Parent, Dickie (Marie) Parent, Bobby Parent, and Tom (Joan) Parent; three sisters, June Overmier, Sean Bordelon and Charlotte Bowlin. Left to mourn are also many loving family members and friends. Joining the U.S. Air Force at the age 18, Jody served during the Korean war, the Congo Crisis and the Vietnam war. He retired after 23 years of service. His love for his country was surpassed only by his love for his family. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend James A. Havens officiating.
