New Iberia - Sam Anthony Parich Sr., 77, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at his home after a short illness. He was a native of Hammond. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 until 1946 and received an ATO medal, EAMETO medal, Good Conduct medal, World War II Victory medal. He also served in central Europe and the Rhineland with the 63rd "Blood & Fire" Artillery Division. He was employed by Texaco and retired after 35 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Viator Parich of New Iberia; three sons, Michael J. Parich Sr. of New Iberia, Sam A. Parich Jr. and Wesley W. Parich, both of Houston; one daughter, Jenny P. Todd of Youngsville; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mateo Parich and Giovana Ritoso; four brothers, Malo, Angelo, Peter and Joseph Parich; and two sisters, Mary P. Tantillo and Josie P. Folks. Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7, and Friday from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 8 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Burial will be in Broussard Cemetery, Bayou Petit Anse with military graveside services conducted by the VFW Post 1982. Evangeline Funeral Home, New Iberia, is in charge. ***************************************************************************
