Roy R. Patten, a native of Port Arthur, Texas, and a resident of Zachary, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010, at age 83. Born Dec. 6, 1926, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retiree from Copolymer with 45 years of service. He was a Mason for more than 50 years and member of Jesus Christ Assembly of Greenwell Springs. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Lorenda Patten, of Zachary, and Peggy and Eugene Kyzar, of Independence; son and daughter-in-law, Clifton and Elaine Patten, of Baton Rouge; two granddaughters, Cally Kyzar, of Independence, and Sara and spouse Steve Easterling, of Denham Springs; two grandsons and their spouses, Roy and Ashley Kyzar, of Zachary, and Henry and Laci Kyzar, of Husser; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale and Leon Patten, of Jonesville; and two sisters, Geneva Bass, of Jonesville, and Joann Cowart, of Monroe. Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Vettie Evans Patten; granddaughter and grandson; parents, Ivy and Mattie Patten; three bothers and two sisters.
