She was 87 and a native of Independence. Visiting at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by Brother Kenneth Istre. Entombment in Colonial Mausoleum, Independence. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Amber P. and Wally Dees, Amite; two grandchildren, Courtney E. Schumacher, Baton Rouge, and Hayden C. Schumacher, Amite; and two stepgrandchildren, Adam Dees and Matt Dees, both of Amite. Preceded in death by her husband, Louis C. "REX" Former owner of Pecora's Cleaners in Amite and a resident of Amite, he died at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. He was 83 and a native of New Orleans. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 20th Armored Division. Visiting at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Helena Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, celebrated by the Rev. Jack Nutter. Entombment in Colonial Mausoleum. Independence. He is survived by his wife, Helen H. Pecora, Amite; a daughter and son-in-law, Amber P. and Wally Dees, Amite; two grandchildren, Courtney E. Schumacher, Ponchatoula, and Hayden C. Schumacher, Hammond; two stepgrandchildren, Adam Dees, Hammond, and Matt Dees, Amite; a sister, Josie P. Larussa, Independence; and a brother, Phillip J. Pecora, Gaffney, S.C. Preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Matise and Mattie Cardaronella; and five brothers, Tony, Joe, Santo, Sammy and Angelo Pecora. He was a member of 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Father Della Penta Assembly No. 2228, Independence, and a charter and 35-year member of Amite Lions Club. ***************************************************************************
