Chris Pembo Sr., 84 years old of Ponchatoula, died June 28, 2010, in North Oaks Medical Center. He was born on Monday, November 23, 1925, in New Orleans, son of the late Pascal Pembo and the late Anna Pachis Pembo. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Pembo worked as an Aeronautical Engineer and a Quality Engineer with NASA and DCMA at Edwards AFB in California and Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans. Some of the programs Mr. Pembo worked on were the X-15, Apollo and the Space Shuttle External Tank. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Bardwell Pembo; daughter, Kathy Stephens; son, Chris Pembo Jr.; 3 grand- children, Christopher Stephens, Brandon Pembo, and Candace Jacobi; 3 great- grandchildren, Jordan Pembo, Julien Pembo, and Caleb Jacobi. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marie Carpenter; 3 brothers, John Pembo, Peter Pembo, and Anthony Pembo. Friends will be received Saturday, July 3, 2010, from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula with Rev. Billie Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in the Cooper Cemetery in Robert.
